Ingrown Toenail

What's an ingrown toenail?

An ingrown toenail is a condition where a corner or sharp edge of a toenail grows into the skin near the nail. If not treated, it can cause an infection in the bone of the toe, sores, and heightened pain. It can even lead to an abscess that would need surgery to correct. Those with diabetes need to be extra vigilant to this condition and to seek treatment right away as infections can set in more quickly.

Ingrown toenail Treatment

An ingrown toenail is best treated as early as possible to avoid further symptoms.  We see many patients of all ages for this problem.  It can occur in any toe but is most often a problem of the big toe.  Dr. Richardson is skilled at treating your ingrown toenail and also help identify the cause.

If the toenail has grown deeply into the skin, an x-ray may be needed. We have a new state-of-the-art very low radiation x-ray system on-site to save you time and cost if it's found to be needed.

My ingrown nail hurt so bad. When I called Redmond Foot and Ankle they understood the pain I was having and got me in right away. Dr Richardson was even able to take care of it during my first appointment. I was so nervous about having a procedure. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed. The clinic was clean and professional. Before I knew it, it was over. The infection is gone and my toe is back to normal.
